ADVERTISING FOR YOUR SCHOOL
Just how important is school marketing in our communities and schools? A lot of communities have more than one public school and who goes to what school is determined by where a student lives within the county. For example, there might be a city school and a county school. The young children who live in the city school district will attend the city school and those who live in the county will attend the county school. However, for any child living in the city district, they can pay a tuition price and attend the county school instead, and vice versa. There might also be a private school within the community, and every single parent has the selection to house school their child as well. This is where marketing comes in.
In order to keep the members of the surrounding communities and schools aware and involved with what is going on within the school, a little school marketing is needed. The more involved a school is with its community and students, the more families will admire the school. A school also needs to have great staff and faculty members who are dedicated to the mission of the school and helping the students succeed. If the school has a really high rate of academic success, normally determined by percentage of students who graduate, then that is an important fact to use in marketing. An additional great quality for a marketing campaign is a school with great extra-curricular activities. The more activities a school has to offer, the wider range of possible students they can attract. For example, a school with only football and basketball programs is not going to attract baseball and volleyball players, or members of any other sport.
School marketing is important to our communities and schools. It keeps students and their households involved in the school, it helps the community to remain in touch with what is happening within the school, and it helps the school attract the attention of prospective students. School attendance does not have to be based simply on the district that students live in. Students who live outside of the school can also attend and the tuition fees go towards the school's funding so everyone benefits.
